Kind of felt there wasn't enough to do in the world as it was all much of a muchness, orb hunting wasn't much fun as they were all largely simple to get with little thought, that's when you can see them because the draw distance on them is a real disappointment, getting to the top of my first tower to scan for orbs to chase down and seeing sod all because they don't get drawn in 'til you're pretty close to them. 'til I got to Ngata where I reckon I died more than I did in the entire game til that point, I lost count of the restarts.
Bosses were also fairly simple if you follow the map in the sort of clockwise spiral you're sort of encouraged to go in, doing everything on the way. Played it on Super Agent and it was largely a breeze, until the warping guys and dome shield guys where you could easily find yourself dead in a couple of seconds. Liked a lot of the silly little touches, "gotta go fast" from a terrified citizen legging it and so on. It felt Crackdown enough, sometimes more, sometimes less. I obviously enjoyed it as I've finished it and completed everything you can do in it bar the orbs and stunt rings, all stats upgraded to max (no achievement for that, which is strange because it actually is an achievement - actually, for me finishing a game is even more of an achievement ). Not sure how I feel about this, I've written this post several times and scrapped it. And of course Crackdown 3 had input from Dave ‘Crackdown’ Jones too We had David ‘Magic Knight’ Jones work at Sumo too. We’ve got a few old school guys who are still very much part of the industry. In fact he sits next to me, nice to work with a living legend, Monty Mole is Pete Harrap, another lovely bloke who also works at Sumo

Plus yes, Anthony Crowther is the same one and only Tony Crowther of Potty Pigeon fame. The Final Lockdown achievement is tied to the former, usually when you’ve taken all the Captains and only Niemend is left. Is that the same guy who did C64 and Amiga games such as Monty Mole, Bombuzal and Captive?ĭId you get a cutscene before that massive three faction lockdown and was it shortly after taking down a boss?Īs we have ‘scripted’ lock downs that are triggered by boss deaths which form part of the overall narrative as well as emergent ones if you just kick off a big scrap. One thing in the credits is Anthony Crowther. Given I hadn't beaten her (or Quist) at this point, I suspect a bug. Managed to survive it, and the achievement for surviving Niemands final lockdown popped. Even though I'm at MAX on firearms, I was running out of ammo.

One wee bug - somehow I ended up triggering a full 3 x 3 x 3 lockdown. Just Niemand to go, but I've got all the DNA, intel fragments and have two Monkey Moonshine booths left. I've spent the last couple of nights just going around the city and collecting orbs before signing off for the night by taking out a boss.

Oh and its bears repeating how much better this looks on a half decent PC to the standard Bone version, played half of this on the Xbox and then got my new laptop and its a striking improvement. I have massively fond memories of the Incredible Hulk and Prototype games and this is basically those (and of course Crackdown 1) done for the current gen. Clever hooks, great weapons (that one from the top of the Science Tower is amazing), a clear crisp visual style and whilst no aspect is anything other that derivative of a 100 other open world games, it does them so damned well. Oh and I did none of the driving stuff because well, it feels a tad pointless in a game where you literally can jump large building in a single bound, and I am shit at driving in games anyway.Īnyway only a Gamepass game or not, this was massively enjoyable stuff. I still have a couple of gold medals on the races to get and about 150 orbs give or take but having thoroughly rinsed this otherwise I think I'll take a break before coming back to sweep. Not ashamed to admit I cheated just like that - in fact those fast spinning platforms were so irritating that I'm pretty sure that was the intentionĪnyway I finally polished this off last night, all the missions and side quests done and evil corporate bitch dispatched.
